Make-up Monday: Maybelline LE Fall Eye Studio Quad in Fall Temptation

mumpg

For today’s Make-up Monday, I have swatches of Maybelline’s new Eye Studio quad called Fall Temptation. Fall Temptation is a part of Maybelline’s LE Fall collection (I believe it is called Fashion Week 2013). It is one of four new quads in that LE collection. I looked at the other items in the collection, but besides a couple of the nail polishes nothing really interested me.

Very beautiful colors! I love the formula and finish of these shadows. They are always pigmented and blends easily, but still keep their own color (they don’t get muddy basically). I thought this quad would by a more everyday quad for me versus the other ones offered.

Fall Temptation is now in stores. If you would like this quad, I would grab it as soon as you see it because there is only 2 slots per quad in the displays (refilling displays depends on store and supply).

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Pop of Cherry & Electric Fuchsia (LE Color Goes Electric Collection 2013)

Maybelline Pop of Cherry & Electric Fuchsia

While I was picking up a couple of items from Maybelline’s new LE Spring collection, I noticed that there was some new LE Vivids lipsticks. To be honest, the Vivids are not in my make-up comfort zone and had not purchased any of them. Kassie of shadesofkassie’s instagram post, however, changed my mind. Electric Fuchsia is a dupe for the wildly popular Mac Pink Pigeon. Then, G. from Nouveau Cheap did a comparison post of Vivid Neon Red (core) and Pop of Cherry (LE). Pop of Cherry looked great on her pale skin, which made me believe that I could possibly rock it too.

Honestly, the swatches are a little intimating to me. Definitely not in my comfort zone! I am, however, trying this year to push myself to try new things. When I was swatching them, I did find the colors gorgeous. Pop of Cherry is a blue based pinkish red and Electric Fuchsia is a bright fuchsia pink (seems to lean slightly blue toned in my opinion). Both lipsticks are very creamy and apply smoothly. Electric Fuchsia is more opaque than Pop of Cherry (as you can see by the swatch). The smell of both lipsticks is kind of odd. Pop of Cherry smells like a NYX lip gloss, which reminds me of Laffy Taffy candy in cherry flavor. On the flip side, Electric Fuchsia does not really have any smell to it. So it is a little bit weird that one would have a very distinctive smell and the other would be void of scent. Overall, I’m glad I picked them up and will be trying them out this month.

Are you picking up any of Maybelline’s LE collection?

Maybelline Fashion Week Color Goes Electric Collection (LE Spring 2013)

When I was at Meijer trying to find Sinful Colors Sugar Rush (sigh..), I saw a huge display of new limited edition Maybelline products. I had read about this collection on Nouveau Cheap. I already knew I wanted to pick up Golden Fuse because it was a possible Nars Orgasm dupe. I also wanted to get a closer look at 2 of the quads and see if they were colors that would work for me.

pgee Electric Emerald #800

pgns Natural Shock #700

pggf1 Golden Fuse #215 (taken with 1 daylight lamp on)

pggf2Golden Fuse #215 (taken with both daylight lamps on)

As you can see, Golden Fuse is not a dupe for Nars Orgasm. From the swatches I have viewed of Nars Orgasm, it looks more pink than peach. Golden Fuse is straight-up peach with golden shimmer and glitter. While I’m kind of bummed that it’s not a dupe, I’m glad that I still bought it because I read that ladies with Rosacea should use peach and apricot colored blush (instead of pink) to reduce the appearance of pink/flushed/red cheeks. As an added bonus, the golden shimmer and micro glitter in blush means I can skip a highlighter. So this works for me!

The 2 quads I purchased are even more gorgeous in person. Natural Shock quad kind of reminds me of the Naked palettes. I am kind of wondering if there are dupes in there. If I find that there is, I’ll put an edit at the bottom of this post at a later time. Even if there is, it’s still a great buy. The quad is way more purse friendly than one of the Naked palettes. While the darkest color in Electric Emerald photographed black, it’s actually a blackened olive color. If you have hazel eyes, this quad will make them pop! I’m so glad I purchased these quad because the quality is great for drugstore eye shadows and the price wasn’t that bad.

Are you planning on picking up anything from this LE collection?
